Pierre Ducan and his diet. interview doctor

The Dukan Protein Diet was created in 1975. It's based on 72 protein-rich foods: meat, fish, seafood, dairy, tofu, as well as vegetables and fruits - meaning you don't have to suffer from hunger. Dukan's book "I Can't Lose Weight" was published in France in 2000 and has since been reprinted in different languages and sold millions of copies. The book was only published in other languages in 2011, and now Pierre Dukan comes to give interviews, give seminars and meet admirers.
— Mr. Dukan, at the beginning of your book there is a dedication to your wife and children. Our Internet resources are entirely dedicated to family life, motherhood and raising children. How important do you think family is in today's world?
——I am a traditional person. I believe finding a woman—a real woman—is a great blessing. Everything is changing so fast now, many things are devaluing and traditions are being destroyed, so it is very important to have a woman by your side - a woman who is understanding and loyal. Her complement to you is important because I can do things that my wife can't and she in turn brings something to the table that I don't have. This is the basis.Pierre Ducan and his dietMy wife has given me two children—the three of them, along with my readers, are the most valuable things in my life. This is not a joke, but it is really important. Our children, who have spent thirty years together, have escaped from the spiritual and religious realm. This is the magic of life. I think marriages that happen on the run, when spouses change like handkerchiefs—marriage, divorce—are bad. This behavior makes the person more vulnerable and unstable - which has negative health consequences. When we are happy, when we are content with our families and relationships with our children, we are better able to withstand life's troubles.
— What do your children do?
— My son is a financier, lives in Paris, and works with me: he handles everything related to finance, the Internet, the website, the products we launch to make it easier for people to follow the diet.My daughter Maya is about to finish school - she is studying at the Ecole de Commerce. There is a very interesting story associated with her name, which I will tell you now. A patient with a German surname came to see me—her husband was Swiss—named Maya. I said, "Oh, my daughter's name is the same as yours. " She asked why we named our daughter that name. I explained: "Because I respect Picasso very much, and one of his daughters is named Maya. " Do you know what the woman's answer was? "It's me. I'm Maya Picasso. "
— Tell us a little about your brand’s products – and how to buy them in our country?
Dukan is interviewed— The first product I started producing under my own name was bran. In fact, bran is one of the most important products in the diet, but it is difficult to find in France. Bran is very useful: firstly, it cleans the intestines, and secondly, it provides necessary calories. As a result we started importing from Finland, and then we discovered that the product actually came from another country - that is, through Finland to France. (Canada is the world’s largest supplier of bran). When people "tried" the product, they came to us with suitcases and bought everything. Then I decided it was time to start selling bran – and that’s how the first product came about.Later they began to produce cakes (biscuits) made of bran, which I recommend for use in the first stages of weight loss - an excellent tool in the fight against hunger: people who cannot control their appetite can eat as much as they want. In my book, I give a recipe for this bun: In addition to bran, you need liquid cheese, protein and a little vegetable oil. But many readers write to my website saying how nice and convenient it is to buy ready-made bread. Then we start producing them. Then they started making tomato sauce—no salt, no sugar. We now produce more than 50 products and sell them all over the world. I hope that in 3-4 months, early next year, they will start to be sold in our country.
— How important do you think the overweight problem is in our country?
— I was surprised to read on the Internet that in the megacities of your country there are more overweight people than in Paris. People eat fast food and move very little. But if you eat like an American, then you become like an American! We must stay true to ourselves and protect our food traditions. You're now at a tipping point - you can still do something and stop before you lose your balance.Generally speaking, the problem of excess weight is not just a whim of women wanting to look more elegant and youthful. It is understood that the life span of obese people is 9 years shorter than that of people of normal weight.I'm a doctor, I'm not a businessman. I've wanted to be a doctor since I was a kid. After high school, when I had to choose between art and medicine, my mother, who has been my beacon, said, "If you become a doctor, you will always be able to paint or collect art, "But if you become an artist, you will never be able to practice medicine. "Because I'm a doctor, I'm happy to cure everyone I can. And, I firmly believe that being overweight is not even an acute form of the disease, but an ongoing, chronic condition.Dukan's take on being overweightIn the 1970s, everyone wanted to lose weight quickly, but they didn't realize that the weight would inevitably come back later. People now understand that weight maintenance needs to be maintained throughout life. Many diets fail to stand the test of time due to a lack of consolidation steps. When I first started, patients who initially lost weight would come back to my office six months later. I improved the technique and within a year they started coming back. But as a doctor, I'm not happy with the results either - I hope they are ever cured. So in the end I perfected my method: I gave my patients not just fish, but a fishing guide, a diet plan according to which they could not only deal with obesity quickly and effectively, but also without outside helpMaintain results long term.
—How do you respond to criticism of your methodology?
— I emphasize that my method was created to get rid of excess weight. It is necessary to differentiate between the diet of a person who is 10-20 pounds overweight and the daily diet of a person of normal weight. My technique is based on a very short and concentrated period - from one and a half to three months - which is an "attack" on the weight, which is war. It's much easier this way, but of course, you still need to monitor your diet - if a person has problems such as being overweight, there is a tendency to become obese. For example, according to the recommendations of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO-Food and Agriculture Organization), the daily diet should contain 55% carbohydrates. However, this standard was adopted in the 1960s; it is too much for today's sedentary lifestyle. When you eat sugar, your body doesn't need it because it knows that sugar is bad for you and should be eliminated from your diet entirely.Very important – and this is not news – physical activity. I was born into a world where moving is natural and I have no obligation to prove it. But modern society encourages all kinds of technologies that make people’s lives easier and reduce activity – and this is exactly the perspective that needs to be overcome.
